Becky Hill, Governor Napolitano's education policy advisor, presented the Governor's high school reform plan and the recommendation from the P-20 Council.
Dr. Milissa Sackos, student services administrator, presented the changes to the District's current field trip policy regulation. Another policy discussed was the recommended changes to policy EEB – Business and Personnel Transportation Services, regarding prohibiting the use of cell phones in district-owned vehicles.
Board members Molly Holzer and Dr. Eric Meyer presented an update on the district's goals and asked for board members' input and suggestions for revisions and additions to the eight goals that were approved by the board in September 2005.
In other action, the Board:
- Approved the Audit Plan for 2006-2007.
- Set legislative priorities for the ASBA 2007 County Meeting.
- Accepted gifts valued at $84,588. The gifts were received from Zuni Community Association, Arcadia PTO, Safeway Foundation, Suns Legacy Partners LLC, Ingleside PTO, Scottsdale Charros, Laguna PTO, Honeywell and Target.
The next Governing Board meeting is scheduled for a special meeting 6 PM, October 3, at the Warehouse and a regular meeting 5 pm, October 17 at the Education Center.
